June, 2007 -- Tom Peddy and Herb Fredeking, owners of Foxleigh Management, Inc. and the office, retail and bank buildings
at Green Spring Station, have purchased the Racquet Club property and plan to develop the property and enlarge activities
at Green Spring Station.
They will begin operating the Racquet Club facility on July 1, 2007, and for the immediate future plan to run it as
it is now with the same employees and in the same fashion as it is currently run.
For the longer term, they are exploring the possible redevelopment of the property with new facilities for Johns Hopkins
Medical and including offices and retail. They are also investigating creating
a more upscale fitness and athletic center.
Meanwhile, the intersections of Falls and Joppa, Falls and Green Spring Valley and Falls and Seminary Roads, all three
continue to be congested with traffic and designated by the County as “F” or failing. The County does not issue new building permits around failing intersections.
Also in the offing is the State Highway Administration (SHA) property on Joppa Road, just east of Falls Road. The SHA is moving to a new location and the property along Joppa
Road will be sold by the State.
So, in the years ahead,
there may well be changes in the landscape in the area in and around Green Spring Station.
